1731 Cornish re-open the Old Darren Mine near Aberystwyth, Wales.


1778


Cornishmen sent out to the area around Lake Superior during the eighteenth century to inspect mineral deposits.


1794 Cornish miners present in the copper mines of Loxton, Somerset.


1816 The first Cornish manufactured machinery (boiler parts from Holman Brothers Ltd) is exported to Latin America.


1818 Trevithick sails for Peru to oversee erection of steam engines; spends 12 years in Latin America.


1824-5


Hundreds of Cornish miners recruited for mines in Latin America.


1830


The Cornish migrate to the lead mining region of Wisconsin. Two important copper mining ventures started at Cobre, Cuba.


1836


Cornish miners commence deep lode mining on Virgin Gorda and Copper mining continued until 1867.


1839


Cornish miners at work in gold fields in western India.


1841 Two Cornishmen discovered silver-lead deposits at Glen Osmond, South Australia.


1843 Following a Copper rush in the Keweenaw, Upper Peninsula (UP), MI, Cornish miners made their way there.


As the British hard rock mining industry began to gather pace in the mid- 1700s, so the first trickle of mineworkers began leaving Cornwall

Cornish miners begin arriving at the Bruce Copper Mines, Ontario, Canada.


1849


Gold rush in California sees Cornish miners arrive.
