GLADE 2012, HOUGHTON HALL, NORFOLK
FEW dance music events have had as rocky a road (or should we say muddy?) as the UK’s Glade Festival. Since starting out as a part of Glastonbury all those moons ago, moving from Berkshire to Winchester in between with the odd bureaucratic wrangle along the way, last year it settled down at its new home, Houghton Hall in Norfolk, for the fi rst time – and there, fi ngers-crossed, it shall remain.
Hitting the ground running last year after 2010’s hiatus with an event true to Glade form, the fi rst batch of this year’s instalment
threatens to push things even further between 14th - 17th June. Cocoon boss Papa Sven, d&b titan Andy C and dubstep don Rusko top the bill so far alongside mash-up monoliths to the tune of Vitalic (live), Marc Romboy (live), Dub Pistols (live), Killafl aw (live) and Toddla T. Joining them will be the usual psy-trance mind-melters in the Psychedelic Village, plus a stock of talent stretching techno, breakbeat and hip-hop that’ll keep you dancing until your hair turns to mash potato (or something).
