SAGE launches new iPhone gets SpringerLink app cardiac care journal
SAGE and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) have announced the launch of the European Heart Journal: Acute Cardiovascular Care. The first issue will be published in Spring 2012. The European Heart Journal: Acute Cardiovascular Care is the official journal of the Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care of the ESC. It aims to publish the highest quality material, both clinical and scientific,
on all aspects of acute cardiac care, such as acute coronary syndromes, cardiogenic shock and acute heart failure. The journal will include clinical research reports on all topics related to acute cardiovascular care with ample space also dedicated to educational materials such as reviews, clinical case discussions, practical tips & tricks and how- to articles, says SAGE.

Powder diffraction journal moves to Cambridge
The International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) and Cambridge University Press have formed a publishing partnership to produce ICDD’s flagship journal, Powder Diffraction. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of its papers, this quarterly journal is claimed to have wide appeal to a great number of sciences, including materials science, chemistry, geology, environmental science, and biology. Cambridge University Press will publish Powder Diffraction from March 2012 Volume 27, Issue 1.

Information portal gives insight into labour economics
The Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and Bloomsbury Publishing are developing an information resource aimed at labour economists, decision makers, and other professionals in labour economics around the world. IZA World of Labor will be developed for the IZA by Bloomsbury and will involve hundreds of scholars world- wide. It promises a ‘unique repository of data, best practice and thought leadership presented in a clear and accessible way’. The platform will be available free of charge and there will be an accompanying range of books
in both print and electronic formats.

Springer has launched the SpringerLink mobile app for iPhone and iPod Touch. It is free to download from the iTunes App Store. The SpringerLink mobile app is said to include a number of features such as personalised notifications, save and share abilities, advanced search, document details with abstracts and full-text views available to institutional subscribers. In addition, it enables keyword and advanced searches, including
a save search feature that allows the user to save any advanced search so that it may be quickly executed from the home screen. The user can be notified from the app’s home screen when any new chapters or articles are published that meet the criteria of his or her saved search, allowing a user to specify his or her areas of interest and quickly check for new, relevant publications.

IJOS re-launches as open-access title
The International Journal of Oral Science (IJOS) has re-launched as a fully open-access title, co- published by Nature Publishing Group (NPG) and the West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University (WCSS). The journal is published online weekly as papers are accepted, while print issues will continue to be produced every quarter.
IJOS provides comprehensive coverage on the foremost findings of basic and clinical research relating to oral science. Articles are freely-available online immediately on publication, published under Creative Commons licences. Article-processing charges will be levied for each article accepted for publication.
