Amy Holliday

National design magazine illustrates Amy’s talent

Amy Holliday has just completed a degree in illustration and her talent has already been recognised by the prestigious Computer Arts magazine. She has been declared winner of the Illustration Category Excellence Award in the magazine’s 2011 Graduate Showcase.

The magazine printed a double page spread of Amy’s illustrations which included drawings of budgies, dairy cattle and a typography design for the university’s summer arts exhibition.

Amy (22) comes originally from Barrow-in-Furness and studied BA (Hons) Illustration at Carlisle. When it came to choosing what she wanted to study, it wasn’t difficult for her to decide: “I always knew I wanted a career path that allowed me to use my love of drawing, so going on to study Illustration became an obvious choice for me after completing an art foundation course at Barrow Sixth Form,” Amy explains. “I chose the University of Cumbria because it was smaller and friendlier than other universities and was situated on the edge of the countryside, similar to my home in Barrow.”

In the immediate future, Amy hopes to realise her potential as a freelance illustrator and more of her designs can be seen on her website www.amyholliday.co.uk
