2012 is going to be a very special year for Britain with The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the London 2012 Olympics and Cheshire will be hosting events linked to major happenings on the national stage.
Don’t miss the London Olympic Torch Relay and Evening Celebration on 29th May. Chester is the first City in the North West to host the historic event plus there are festivities at 3 iconic locations across Cheshire and Warrington.
Look out too for the Olympic Poster Exhibition that’s touring Cheshire showing the history of the Games and the changing graphic styles and social context of the host cities’ cultures that they represent.
Cheshire is launching its 2nd Biennial of Art and Culture in 2012 at Tatton Park 5th May-30th September on the theme of Flights of Fancy featuring the premiere of major new artworks exploring the aeronautical history of Tatton and the human urge to fly.

Cheshire is not just a naturally stunning place to visit and explore, it’s also brimming with a host of exciting events and fun-filled festivals to entertain and amuse throughout the year.
We take a fresh look at its carnival of delights and discover the amazing variety of entertainment on offer around the area in 2012.
Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, which moves to June for its annual display of all things fast on land, water and in the air, and The Thundersprint celebrating the enduring appeal of motorcycling.
There’s plenty of outdoor events throughout Cheshire including Rock and Pop Concerts at Delamere Forest and Chester Racecourse, open-air theatre in Chester’s Grosvenor Park and Gawsworth Hall near Macclesfield, as well as the perennial floral delights of the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park, while Creamfields near Warrington brings us Britain’s biggest techno dance festival.
Chester’s fiesta of festivals includes Summer Music, Literature and Folk plus the hugely popular Chestival, an eclectic mix of entertainment that’s always full of surprises.
By the way, the dinosaurs are coming back to Chester Zoo!
The year ends with a spectacular line-up of Christmas Lights switch- ons and seasonal entertainment across Cheshire with major events taking place in Chester, Macclesfield and Warrington.
