For real hands-on fun, nip over to Catalyst at Widnes where science is play-time.
Industrial heritage features strongly among Cheshire’s attractions including the National Waterways Museumat Ellesmere Port, home to the world’s largest collection of inland waterways craft.
Check out too the mechanical marvels on view at Quarry Bank Millwhere King Cotton once reigned supreme and a gigantic waterwheel turns back the tide of history and recreates life in a Georgian workhouse complete with clattering machinery.
Fancy something more active? Head for Beeston Castle & Woodland Park set on a hill 300’ above the Cheshire Plain, ‘Go Ape’ on a woodland adventure challenge in Delamere Forest or fly eagles at Blakemere Craft Centre.
After a hard day’s sightseeing, revive your spirits at Tarporley’s Chocolate Shop housed in an old fire-station and taste classic confectionary.
