My Cheshire
“Cheshire is unique. It contains in a small compass most of the landscapes to be found in Britain. Within a radius of 20 miles of where I live I can move from estuary, through fen, dairy and arable farms, to sheep runs and bleak mountain tors. There is nowhere to match it.”
Alan Garner International prize-winning author.

Macclesfield’s Barnaby Festival in June is a modern revival of the town’s quirky Barnaby Fair, dating from the 13th century. The festival celebrates all things artistic, with a healthy dose of good old fashioned fun. Staged in the town’s historic buildings and open spaces, the Barnaby festival breathes talent and creative energy into the streets of the town.
Tatton Park’s picnic concerts feature world class artists and fabulous fireworks, located in a stunning lakeside setting. The Georgian mansion also stages the Tatton Park Biennial – a contemporary art event dedicated to experimentation and evolution. The 2012 event will explore flight in its most cerebral sense.
