Armstrong Whitworth FK-10 by Ken Cigler Ken Cigler scratchbuilt this ¼

scale Armstrong Whitworth FK-10 Quadraplane, a plane not usually modeled, from a set of three-views originally found in a July/August 1963 issue of American Modeler. The small plans were enlarged to allow the creation of this IMAA legal warbird. The plane spans 88 inches, weighs 28 pounds and is covered with Stits Light, painted with latex paint. The plane is designed so that the four wings come in halves and are bolted to the fuselage as one unit with three screws on each side. Assembly time is approximately five minutes or less. The plane is powered by a Zenoah G-62 gas ignition engine and is guided by a JR XP8103 radio. Ken reports that the plane can be demanding and a challenge to fly, but it certainly is an amazing sight once in the air. He also reports that the large and unusual model garners its fair amount of attention from fellow modelers and spectators at the flying field.
