A Happy New Year to all our readers! I hope the Christmas season has been a good one for your business and that 2012 will see a rise in consumer spending. Interestingly a recent survey of small business owners showed significant optimism for the future with 67% expecting their profits to increase in the coming year. In general the Tool industry has shown steady growth and the DIY market remains buoyant. 2012 will be an exciting year for the UK with the Olympics
in London in July and August. It is promising to be a spectacular event. In the Tool and Hire industry we have our own events to look forward to with some important Trade Shows in the next few months. In February Totally DIY Totally Tools/Totally Secure runs from 5th to 7th at the NEC in Birmingham, closely followed by the Executive Hire Show on 8th and 9th at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The International Hardware Show in Cologne takes place
from 4 – 7 March. Christine recently attended the European Trade Press Conference for this event and returned armed with information about this important event. See later in the magazine for more details and visit our website
