HOW TO COMPLETE THE WINE DETAILS FORM
See the WINE DETAILS form opposite which has been completed as an example guide Below are explanatory notes on how to complete your WINE DETAILS form.
Numbers correspond to the boxes on the WINE DETAILS form (see example opposite)
1A) COUNTRY - The country of origin ensures that the wine is grouped and judged equally in the correct category.
1B) REGION - Geographical region where the wine is produced. Please enter the correct region as it appears on the label. Any variation between the label and the entry form creates confusion and might result in your wine not being tasted in the right category.
1C) SUB REGION - The sub region where the wine is produced so the wine can be judged in the correct category. Any variation between the label and the entry form creates confusion and might result in your wine not being tasted in the right category.

1D) CLASSIFICATION - The official classification stated on the label; eg AC, DOC, IGT, Vin de Pays etc.
2A) PRODUCER NAME - Please enter the full name as it appears on the label to avoid confusion.
2B) WINE NAME - Please enter precisely the name as it appears on the label. Any variation between the label and the entry form creates confusion and might result in your wine not being tasted in the right category. If your wine has no name please enter “Not Applicable”.
3A) NUMBER OF BOTTLES PRODUCED - Any wine entered must have a minimum production of 200 cases available to the market. The only exception is for sweet wines, which must be produced in a minimum quantity of 50 cases.
4A) WINE SUBMISSION ORIGIN - Please tick the box representing the origin of where your wine(s) will be sent from. For example, if your wine is being sent from France, please tick c EU (exc UK).
5A) VINTAGE - The year of the harvest for the wine. Please enter ‘NV’ if your wine is a blend of vintages.
6) GRAPE VARIETIES - Choose up to 3 grape varieties used to produce your wine. Specify the volume for each grape as a percentage eg Merlot 85%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%.
7A) BOTTLE SIZE - Must be 75cl unless it is a sweet or fortified wine.
7B) TYPE OF CLOSURE - How is the bottle sealed eg cork, synthetic, screw cap. 7C) ALCOHOL LEVEL - The alcohol by volume as listed on the label.
7D) RESIDUAL SUGAR LEVEL - The level of residual sugar in grammes per litre. This information is essential. If you do not submit this information, it might result in your wine not being tasted in the right category.

You must provide both a retail price and stockist code at the time of entry for UK or US retail information to be published. If you do not provide both pieces of information then your published result will not include any retail details. We will not publish a retail price without a stockist, or a stockist without a retail price (see illustrations above).
7E) SWEET WINE ACIDITY - The level of acidity in grammes per 100ml. This is essential for sweet and medium-dry wine.
8) OAKED, UNOAKED OR LIGHTLY OAKED - Has the wine aged for any time in oak? This ensures that the wine is grouped and judged equally in the correct category.

9A) AVAILABLE IN THE UK? - This information is very important for our publications and for consumers.

If NOT available in the UK please provide details of the ex-cellar price. If you do not provide a retail price, and stockist information, at the time of entry, the price cannot be published in the Awards issue or on
www.decanter.com.
9C) PRICE BAND - Ensures that the wine is grouped and judged fairly in the correct category. If you do not provide this information, the wine will be judged as an over £10 wine and any medals will reflect this.
9D & 11C) UK AND US STOCKISTS - For publication purposes to let readers of Decanter know where to buy your wine. Please use the Stockist code booklet enclosed or visit
www.decanter.com/stockists to look up your stockist code. For example, if your wine is stocked by Bibendum, write ‘Bib’. If you do not provide details of your stockist, and retail price, at the time of entry, we cannot publish stockist information in the Awards issue.
10) EX-CELLAR PRICE - This is essential if your wine does not yet have a UK retail value, as it will give us a good idea of the price bracket in which your wine should be judged. If you do not provide this information, the wine will be judged as an over £10 wine and any medals will reflect this. Ex-cellar is used by agents, distributors or importers. It is the price a wine is sold for before additional costs are added (transport, import/ export duties, VAT) as well as any margin the retailer adds before selling on to the customer.
12) CHINESE IMPORTER - If your wine is imported into mainland China or Hong Kong, please include the importer’s company name, telephone number and website.
