One year into the Specialist Vehicle (SV) contract, defence journalist Christopher Foss tells of the excellent progress made by the General Dynamics UK-led industry team


Trusted to deliver


The Specialist Vehicle (SV), currently being developed by General Dynamics UK under the MoD £500 million demonstration and qualification contract, will be the most advanced vehicle ever to be fielded by the British Army and will provide it with a step- change in capability. It will deliver the highest levels of protection, firepower, mobility and ISTAR ever seen in the medium weight role, or on the battlefield.


It will replace the current Combat Vehicle


Reconnaissance (Tracked) or CVR(T) family of light armoured vehicles which first entered service as far back as 1974. This family is now in urgent need of replacement as it is overweight, badly protected and its sensors have limited capability.
