Winmau unveiled as the official partner of the Chinese Darts Association

W

inmau and the Chinese Darts Association have been announced as the exclusive sponsor of the China National Darts Open

As part of the agreement, Winmau will also support the Shanghai Super Darts league, whose membership is growing at a phenomenal rate every year.

In 1999, darts was officially approved by the Chinese government as a sport. In 2004, the CDA was founded and it is the official national darts organization in China. The CDA is governed by the China General Sports Bureau and it covers 10 city darts associations, including the Shanghai Darts Association – the hub of Chinese darts development.

The number of Chinese darts players is growing rapidly as darts is promoted into businesses and schools. The IDF's close relationship with the Chinese Darts Association and Shanghai Xuhui District has allowed developments such as the three year contract with the Shanghai Xuhui District government to hold the IDF Darts World Cup.

With Winmau’s support, the CDA is building a

close relationship with the British Darts

Organization (BDO), where it will have access to the wealth of

experience the BDO has amassed over nearly 40 years in

running events and promoting the grass roots game.

Ian Flack, Sales and Marketing Director for Winmau, said "I can't over emphasize how happy we are at this latest development in China. We have been patiently looking for the right partners to work with to achieve long- term and rewarding growth in one of the world’s fastest growing markets. The dart scene in China is still very much in its infancy, but the recent participation rates have been breathtaking.”

Mizuno partnership with British Volleyball Federation

M

izuno has announced itself as official footwear sponsor of the British Volleyball Federation in a two year partnership.

The news means that the Japanese sports brand will be providing the official competition and training footwear for the men’s and women’s elite national teams. To mark the sponsorship, both teams will be wearing Mizuno’s Wave Lightning and Wave Tornado shoes, with a brand

new special colourway developed for next year. As the host nation, Great Britain's indoor volleyball teams automatically qualify for the London 2012 Games. Whilst currently outside of the world’s top 50, the British men’s and women’s teams have seen improvements with wins against Mexico and Egypt in this year's Olympic test event, bringing belief that a medal could be a possibility.

"We are absolutely delighted to be teaming up

with the British Volleyball Federation during what will no doubt be an exciting two years of international volleyball”, said Mizuno Europe Sport Promotions & Communications Co- ordinator, John Hooper. “Volleyball is a rich part of Mizuno’s heritage that we are extremely proud of and we hope that the brand’s ongoing technical expertise and support of the British teams will give them every chance of success next year.”
