1885 and while its still 80+ years later the you are asking, I believe that it’s pretty close to the mark. A couple examples of tunes are Caber Feidh, Tulloch Gorm, Barbara’s Jig, Gillie Callum (Sword Dance), Balmoral Castle, Colonel MacLeod’s Reel, Caledonian Society of London, All the Blue Bonnets Over the Border, Lord Lovat’s Lament,The Barren Rocks of Aden, just to name the more recognisable ones that are played today.
