Tune Search Sir, A local theatre group is planning


ahead for the 150th Anniversary of the Antigonish Highland Games.The Antigonish Highland Society was formed in 1861 and held its first Games two years later, in 1863. To honour the many Scots who


immigrated to this area, the group wants to stage a series of stage shows focusing on the people, mostly Gaelic speaking Highlanders, who came on the immigrant ships, starting with the Nora that landed here in 1801. They have asked me to try to find out what bagpipe music might

• Derek Midgley: I am currently looking through William Ross’s book published in


1885 and while its still 80+ years later the you are asking, I believe that it’s pretty close to the mark. A couple examples of tunes are Caber Feidh, Tulloch Gorm, Barbara’s Jig, Gillie Callum (Sword Dance), Balmoral Castle, Colonel MacLeod’s Reel, Caledonian Society of London, All the Blue Bonnets Over the Border, Lord Lovat’s Lament,The Barren Rocks of Aden, just to name the more recognisable ones that are played today.
