Whywear eyewear?

Audrey Heffernen of Hennessy Hair & Beauty explains the importance of eye protection during sunbed sessions.

"It is very important to wear UV protection over your eyes while using the sunbed. A towel over your client's face isn't enough to prevent UV rays from damaging their eyes.

These sit perfectly on the eye, and fit with an adhesive meaning that there's no bridge over the nose or string to create any unsightly tan lines. Keep a box of these on reception to retail to your tanning clients every time they visit.

"Without tanning goggles clients will be damaging their eyes. Eyelids only protect against about 25% of the UV rays from a sunbed. Only using eyelids as protection can cause short-term damage to eyes and some of the symptoms include: puffy eyelids, red- itchy eyes, watery eyes, and of course sunburn on your eyelids. These are all signs that you may have given your eyes a sunburn or short-term damage. The purpose of having tanning goggles is to prevent any damage to your eyes from the UV rays with the sunbed."

Long TermEffects:

"The UV rays can cause vision problems such as blurred vision or temporary loss of sight. Those who choose not to wear eye protection can develop serious problems such as cataracts, macular degeneration or conjunctivitis, not to mention developing crows feet around the eyes."
