Former model Celia Holman Lee founded the Holman Lee Modelling Agency 33 years ago, and is now one of the country's foremost fashion presenters on TV3's Ireland AM and RTÉ's Off the Rails. Oonagh Clarke caught up with Celia as she was about to judge the Best Dressed Ladies competition at the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Oonagh: How important is how you look to your career?

Celia: Very important. I like to lead by example. As I have been in the modelling industry for 40 years I have very high standards and I expect the same from my models.

Oonagh: Tell me about your beauty regime?

Celia: I love a relaxing facial but never seem to have time to have one on a regular basis. Every time I come out of the salon I feel wonderful and promise myself that I will have another facial very soon but unfortunately this never happens. Aromatherapy facials are my favourite.

Oonagh: Any particular beauty problems or concerns?

Celia: I always had good skin but now as I am 60 I notice the wrinkles a bit more and the skin sagging a little.

Oonagh:What is your best feature?

Celia: My eyes, not the shape or size of them but the colour. They are a very unusual shade of green with spots in them and people are surprised when they meet me how striking they are.

Oonagh: What would be your desert island product?

Celia: An eyebrow pencil. As I have got older my brows are not as thick as they were so an eyebrow pencil is a great anti-ageing product.

Oonagh: Would you ever consider Botox® or fillers?

60

“Due to the accessibility of good make-up, hair and beauty products, we all have the ability to make ourselves beautiful.” - Celia Holman Lee

Celia: No I have never thought that they were right for me. I don't have anything against them but they're just not for me.

Oonagh: As this is an article for Irish Beauty magazine I have to ask, do you consider yourself an Irish Beauty?

Celia: No, I have been blessed with good bone structure from my parents and my skin hangs on this!

Oonagh: Do you think Irish women are beautiful in general?

Celia: In recent years due to the accessibility of good make-up, hair and beauty products we all have the ability to make ourselves beautiful.

Oonagh:What woman do you most admire and why?

Celia: Fashion designer Diane Von Furstenburg is a truly inspirational person; she is my crush of the moment! At 64 she has achieved incredible things with her fashion business. She has never touched her face and seems incredibly happy in herself.

Oonagh: Having appeared in Celebrity Salon would you have liked to have been a beauty therapist?

Celia: I loved Celebrity Salon. I really liked the connection that I made with the clients and being able to get to know them in a very short space of time. They put their trust in you and it's up to you to help them with their concerns. I loved the whole hands- on approach.
