JISC appoints new head Martyn Harrow, director of information services at Cardiff University, has been appointed as head of JISC for a fi xed term of nine to 18 months from 1 February 2012. He will succeed Malcolm Read who retires in January 2012 after 18 years as the organisation’s head. Harrow will see the organisation through its transition into a ‘new look’ JISC, following the recommendations of a review earlier this year.


HighWire Press and TEMIS strike partnership HighWire Press and TEMIS have entered into a strategic technology and business partnership. Under the agreement, HighWire will integrate the full suite of Luxid software within its ePublishing Platform to provide automated content annotation,


enrichment and linking to its customers.


South African libraries get WorldCat Local WorldCat Local, OCLC’s discovery service, will serve as a single point of access and delivery of electronic, print and digital resources to the National Library of South Africa and 15 academic institutions, thanks to a deal arranged by OCLC and Sabinet, OCLC’s partner in South Africa. With WorldCat Local, links to the full- text of licensed electronic content promise users seamless access to all the library’s resources from a single search box.


Maney announces new licences for archaeology and heritage content Maney Publishing has announced four new institutional licences to


receive the archaeology and heritage MORE E-journal Collection for 2012. The deals, which relate to content from 22 archaeology and heritage journals, serve staff and students at the University of Lund, Sweden and the Universities of Liverpool, Bournemouth and Aberdeen, UK. In a separate deal, TU Delft in the Netherlands has signed up for the publisher’s materials science and engineering collection.


Virginia Henderson Library Repository launches for nursing Sigma Theta Tau International, which provides nurses with online access to nursing information, has launched its new library repository. Built in conjunction with BioMed Central’s Open Repository service, which is built upon the latest version of DSpace, the Virginia Henderson Library Repository


will offer individuals access to nursing information and conference proceedings.


Wiley announces access agreement with JISC Collections Wiley-Blackwell and JISC Collections have announced a three-year NESLi2 agreement for the higher education and further education communities in the UK. This agreement offers libraries access to more than 1,500 journals on Wiley Online Library on terms that take into account the fi nancial challenges facing the library community at this time, says the company. Customers can choose to license the full collection or a subset – whichever best meets the needs of their researchers and students – and balance their selections with their budget constraints.
