Taylor & Francis Group widens its open-access portfolio


Taylor & Francis Group has announced a range of new open-access journals and an enhancement of its open-access programme for 2012. Taylor & Francis’ current iOpenAccess option will be renamed for 2012 as Taylor & Francis Open Select. It will continue to give authors and their sponsors the option of making their articles available as open access for a publication fee. This initiative currently


encompasses 500 titles from the Taylor & Francis portfolio. In addition, three subscription titles will be converted to full open access for 2012, along with their digital archives. The titles are Green Chemistry Letters and Reviews, Journal of Biological Dynamics and Smart and Nano Materials. The author communities in these areas have a strong interest in publishing research using open-access. www.taylorandfrancisgroup.com


SAGE begins publishing journal for teaching


and learning in public sector management SAGE will begin publishing Teaching Public Administration (TPA) on behalf of the Joint University Council Public Administration Committee from 2012. The new title will be published alongside its sister journal of Public Policy and


Administration (PPA), which is also published by SAGE. The journal publishes twice a


year, in March and September, and focuses on teaching and learning in public sector management and organisations. www.sagepublications.com


HighWire anticipates more than 900 mobile sites by end of 2011


With the latest release of its mobile platform, HighWire Press anticipates that it will have delivered over 900 mobile- optimised sites by the end of 2011.


The HighWire Open Platform architecture is said to provide the fl exibility to deliver mobile sites, mobile apps, mini-sites, and other feature-rich options for HighWire-hosted publication sites. Current capabilities in the


latest HighWire Mobile release include BlackBerry support, inter-article navigation, mobile advertising, article/issue search, multi-journal interface, and voucher service integration supporting institutional tethering. Research in the News is a new, free online resource from Emerald Group Publishing, which is said to connect research published in scholarly journals to current global events. Every month, three articles or book chapters are selected from the latest Emerald
