The Marines searched the ship, appre- hended actors portraying pirates, seized automatic weapons, and returned the ves- sel to its owner.

improves interoperability and provides the MEU with an exceptional mari- time raid capability,” says Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Compton, USMC, the maritime raid force’s fi rst sergeant. “The Marines’ decisive and thorough actions enabled them to complete their task and conduct a successful mission.” The mission was part of the MEU’s fi nal exercise before deploying in November.
