Opportunities After You Graduate


Most postgraduate students have chosen their course of further studywith a viewto improving their subsequent employment prospects,whether in academia, research or elsewhere. Whatever your situation, the Careers Centre is committed to providing youwith themost relevant information and advice for your future. The Careers Centre offers information about the spectrumof career and further study opportunities in the UK and overseas. The Centre’sweb pages showwhat UK and EU graduates on particular courseswent on to do next, a useful source of ideas and reassurance.


Most postgraduate students,whether taught or research,want to use the knowledge and skills gained fromtheir studies in as direct away as possible in later employment. Academic supervisors and tutors are aware of this reality and seek to help students achieve their goals. Many courses include specific careers related elements.


The Careers Centreweb pages provide links to relevant events, employer presentations, careersworkshops and fairs. There are considerablymore activities in the first semester than at other times of the year therefore those taking taughtMasters courses, in particular, need to be very focused in their career related activities fromthe beginning of their first semester. The Careers Centre communicates closelywithMasters course tutors to ensure students are fully aware of resources and opportunities.
