Advice when you need it


The University aims to provide a supportive academic and social environment for postgraduates. During your studies theremay be timeswhen you need some help and advice, andwe offer an extensive range of support to ensure that on both an academic and personal level, your experience as a postgraduate is successful and fulfilling.


Student Services has established a one-stop-shop so that students only need to followone easy route and the relevant helpwill be provided by appropriately qualifiedmembers of the team. This service ismade up of a teamof professionally qualified staffwho are there to assist you on any issue fromfinancial hardship, academic concerns or problems, accommodation issues, long-termmedical conditions and disability, aswell asmore personalmatters such as relationship difficulties. For international students there is an adviserwho can assistwith immigration and relatedmatters.


Financial Assistance and Discretionary Funds The government has established Discretionary Funds to provide additional financial support to home students suffering financial hardship. Chaplaincy / Faiths The Chaplain and Chaplaincy facilities are available to all members of the University communitywhether or not they followany spirituality. Mansefield provides ameeting place for individuals and groups. Various faith groupsmeet here, and a prayer roomis set aside forMuslimstudents. The Jewish Chaplain (based in Glasgow) can be contacted through the Chaplaincy, as can people fromdifferent denominations and a range of faiths.
