T is past year was an exciting milestone in MIT’s history. T e Institute’s 150th anniversary off ered numerous opportunities for MITers everywhere to celebrate our unique spirit and contributions to the world. Never has MIT pride been so high. Together, volunteers and the Alumni Association hosted 158 sesquicentennial events worldwide, including 55 Toast to IAP gatherings, 47 Charter Day events (many to watch a video stream of the Next Century Convocation), and 14 Days of Service, among oth- ers.


T e senior class posted an unprecedented 76 per- cent participation rate. Tech Reunions’ attendance reached an all-time high of X,XXX, and the Toast to Tech party in Killian Court, the MIT150 fi nale, delighted the 8,000 people on hand to dance, enjoy fi reworks, marvel at a spectacular cake, and hear a message from MIT astronauts at the International Space Station.


T ere was also great news in the area of support for MIT. Students set participation records, and gifts to the Annual Fund topped $52 million.

Together, volunteers and the Alumni Association hosted 164 sesquicentennial events worldwide. Many alumni attended or watched a video stream of the Next Century Convocation in Boston, which was attended by more than 7,500 people.


On campus, Tech Reunions’ attendance reached an all-time high. T e Toast to Tech party in Killian Court, the MIT150 fi nale, delighted the 8,000 people on hand with dancing, fi reworks, a spectacular 24-foot- long cake modeled on the MIT campus, and a message from MIT astronauts at the International Space Station.
