he USA Volleyball High Per- formance pipeline was on full display over the summer and making some history in the process. The 2011 USA Volleyball (USAV) High Performance (HP) Champion- ships was a success in Tucson, Ariz., as a record-high 98 teams from the U.S. and six foreign countries fought for the gold in three boys’ divisions and four girls’ divisions spanning July 26-30.
The tournament combined the best teams from USAV High Performance
Pipeline teams, USAV Region High Performance Teams and international squads in the marquee event. Travel- ing from beyond the United States borders were 10 international teams from Mexico, Canada, Peru, New Zealand, Dominican Republic and Chile.
The athletes were welcomed to the tournament in an opening ceremony with special guest Rich Lambourne, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and cur- rent libero of the U.S. Men’s National Team, as the keynote speaker.
