When asked to recommend a book or two to our readers, Cemanthe recommends ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. This book is about being fearful, and accepting that you are having the fear, but then doing things anyway! Her own personal philosophy is that life is too short not to live it, and she applies this to everything that she does – “In accepting that you might feel fear, surprisingly you don’t, and this brings many more opportunities your way!” Another book that she recommends is the book ‘The E-Myth’. This book basically explains about automating your business and how to go from being self-employed (creating a job for yourself) to being a business owner (working on the business instead of in it!).

“Get a contract signed before doing the work” – she learnt this through bitter experience with a client who never paid her for training that she did. As she had no contract, she couldn’t pursue legal action against the client. This was an expensive lesson to learn, but valuable as she now only does business with people who sign the contract and pay upfront.
