What They Said

“I noticed some companies increasing their range of prod- ucts, for example Foseco, which is now offering a ductile iron treatment process and software for measuring the quality of the iron.” —Patricio Gil, Blackhawk de Mexico

Machine allows part-specific shot blasting, so each part is shot blasted with a particular speed, resting time and blast- ing intensity. Parts move individually through the shotblast machine on an inclined, wear-resistant rubber belt under constant rotation without the risk of collision or joining.

• The Advanced Cleaning Machine features a range of configuration options and allows the use of both standard shotblast nozzles and nozzles designed for individual applications.

MOLD AND CORE CONSUMABLES

Foseco’s booth highlighted new binder systems, filtration and gating systems, and metal treatments.

capacity and a rotary turntable that allows for a product load and unload time of four seconds.

• Multi-spindle grinding is programmable for surface and internal grinding, as well as cutting risers and gating.

Pangborn, Fairburn, Ga.

Blast cleaning machines • Pangborn Europe’s Water/Oil Jacket machine cleans internal cavities, such as water and oil jackets, in gray or aluminum engine blocks and heads. The machine cleans different work pieces with individualized mobile or fixed nozzles.

• The machine also rotates pieces on one to two axles to evacuate residual shots after discharging.

Rosler, Bayern, Germany

Spinner Hanger Shot Blast Machine • Rosler engineers used 3-D simulation of the blast process to determine the optimal blast wheel arrange- ment for cleaning castings.

• Castings travel through the blast zone in three fixed posi- tions and are rotated at each position so all areas of the part are reached by the blast stream.

42 | MODERN CASTING August 2011

Metal Technologies, Auburn, Ind., announced it purchased two DISA 231 Fast machines, which will be delivered in 2012.

ASK Chemicals, Hilden, Germany Environmentally-Friendly Binders • ASK formally introduced itself as a global foundry chemicals supplier formed through the joining of Ash- land Casting Solutions, Dublin, Ohio, and Sud Chemie, Munich, Germany.

• The company now offers Inotec, its inorganic binder system, for iron casting applications after modifying it to handle the high-heat requirements of the material.

• For companies that cannot use inorganic binders, ASK introduced a line of high efficiency binders, which have additives that reduce the amount of binding agents and catalysts by 25%.
