HMAC lowers their cost per part Over 15 years ago Hitachi Metals

Automotive Components (HMAC) built its Lawrenceville, PA casting foundry around their two DISAMATIC molding machines. Teir two DISA shot blast machines have since been retrofitted and are currently maintained by Wheelabrator, providing Hitachi Metals Automotive Components with the perfect blend of service and quality from two of the best in the business. HMAC runs two vertical molding lines in excess of 200 molds per hour.

While they run strictly safety and sus- pension parts for companies like BMW and Honda, a wide variety of shapes and sizes pass through their machines each day. At HMAC, business is booming. And it only stays that way if the workflow keeps moving. “We have just come off a period

of three and four months running 19 days consecutively,” said Bob Harter, HMAC Vice President of Manufac- turing, “so the reliability of the equip- ment is very, very important.” HMAC’s DISA machines have pro-

duced over 14 million molds since their installation. For Harter, a workhorse of a machine is important, but the quality of the mold is paramount. “Our DISA machines support us very well from the mold indexing process, and keeping things moving continuously,” Harter said, “so they’ve been very, very good for us.” Tat reliable level of quality is maintained by HMAC’s DISA TOPS service agreement. Trough regular maintenance checkups and around- the-clock assistance, DISA helps HMAC lower their cost per casting by making sure that their machines are always up and running. HMAC opened their Lawrencev-

ille facility with four DISA machines – the 2 molding machines and 2 blast machines. Because of DISA’s work- ing relationship with Wheelabrator, HMAC was recently able to retrofit their blast machines. “At this facility here, we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on shot,” Harter said, “so we like to use the shot very wisely and the Wheelabrator EZEFIT® wheel has helped us achieve this.” “I’m very excited about the new blast wheel style,” Harter said, “and our maintenance manager is very ex- cited about it also.” Tat Maintenance Manager is Jeff Quick, the man tasked with making sure HMAC’s equipment runs on a continuous basis. “Te EZEFIT wheels make our

machines more efficient,” a smiling Quick said. “It cuts down our mainte- nance time, and increases our up-time for running these machines.” “Te key to any facility is having
