STEVE ROGERS

Furry Creek, Whistler, British Columbia

This section is packed with committing waterfalls in a box canyon. “The twist in the story,” explains Rogers, “is that the creek flows through a high-end golf course. The signature drop is located less than 200 feet from the clubhouse.” This has caused friction between paddlers and golf course owners with cars being towed and kayakers chased away. The solution? “We decided to go stealth and use Ali’s work van from a local plumbing company. We hoped it would appear to be a regular visit from the company and go unnoticed.” The team made a mad dash across the parking lot and onto the creek. Rogers snuck into the bushes, climbed a tree and stole this shot of Ali Marshall running the drop and Ben Hawthorne nervously waiting in the eddy above.
