Often, the primary function of packaging is to protect the product from damage. However, you are also protecting your profit margin and your reputation

Want to save trees from being cut down

and reduce the amount of cardboard waste going to landfill? Ditch the traditional double- walled carton in favour of a new form of heavy-duty “Enviro” box, which uses less cardboard but maintains the strength of double-wall boxes. Not only does this protect the environment, the reduction in weight also lowers your transport costs.

It often costs more to use the packaging

than it does to buy it In the warehouse, space and labour are very expensive. To run an efficient packing operation you need the right tools, well- trained staff and flexible working space. Save space, reduce clutter and prevent picking errors by choosing the right kind of packing equipment for your product. Use a multipurpose packing bench with

dispensers for bubble wrap and a suspended hopper to funnel loose-fill material or air bags directly into boxes without mess. Mark out separate packing areas on the warehouse floor to ensure orders don’t get mixed up. Use handheld tape and stretch film dispensers to wrap and seal your goods quickly, and the correct safety cutters to open boxes without causing personal injury. You can use air cushion machines to

inflate air cushions on demand to fill voids and prevent loose items from moving around inside a box. Air cushions can also be used for padding and protection. Air cushions are less messy, take up a lot less storage space and can cost less in the long-term than equivalent loose-fill materials. Packaging solutions are ever-evolving, with

new materials or designs being developed that are better for the environment, make better use of space, offer superior product protection and save your company money. Packaging is very important, so put some time and thought into it and don’t be afraid to ask an expert for some advice.
