Three foam soaps added to hand care range
Tork manufacturer SCA has boosted its hand care range with the addition of a revolu- tionary new antimicrobial foam hand cleaner and two eco-labelled foam soaps. Tork Antimicrobial Foam Cleanser is kind to the hands while also containing 40% ethanol which means it destroys bacteria, viruses and fungi.
“This is effectively a soap and disinfectant in one,” said SCA product and segment manager Charlotte
Branwhite. “It is ideal for use in the food and healthcare industries where a germicidal action is often preferred. The fact that Tork Antimicrobial Foam Cleanser contains emollient ingredients such as glycerine and betaine also makes it gentle on the skin which means it can be used frequently without causing chapping.”
Tork Antimicrobial Foam Cleanser has a unique formula that incorporates lower concentrations of alcohol than many other sanitisers on the market. This means it has lower VOC emission levels than most alcohol-based products, which is a sustainability benefit.
“Tork Antimicrobial Foam Cleanser is perfect for hygiene-critical environments but it will also provide added reassurance in any public washroom, particularly in times of crisis such as during an influenza outbreak,” continued Branwhite. Also new is Tork Mild Foam Soap which is
particularly suitable for use in public toilets in restaurants, offices and hotels, and Tork Extra Mild Foam Soap which is aimed at environments such as schools and hospitals
Unprecedented demand for new laundry range
Miele Professional, which unveiled six new laundry products to key partners at an exclusive launch recently, has experienced unprece- dented take up of the new laundry range.
where a particularly mild formulation is required. Tork Mild Foam Soap contains natural skin lipids to prevent dryness, while Tork Extra Mild Foam Soap is fragrance-free and contains no sulphates that could irritate the eyes. Both these soaps have been accredited with the EU and Nordic ecolabels.
All Tork foam soaps are housed in a container that holds 2500 doses of quality foam soap - around double the number as is contained in a liquid soap dispenser of the same size. This means that refilling time is halved while double the number of soap containers can be accommodated on to a pallet.
Tork foam soaps are housed in a dispenser that has been purpose-designed to allow children and people with reduced hand strength to easily access the soap inside. The dispenser has been given the stamp of approval by the Swedish Rheumatism Association.

Lightweight, manual sweeper
Truvox has announced the TruSweep 460, a new lightweight, manual sweeper that is suitable for cleaning inside or out- doors. Ideal for use where no power is available or where it is not convenient to plug in a vacuum cleaner, it eliminates any health and safety risks that a trailing power lead can bring. Suitable for sweeping up small debris from small warehouses, car parks, pathways and inside industrial units, the Truvox TruSweep 460 has an adjustable main brush that revolves in the opposite direction to that of travel. This mechanism therefore flips debris such as cigarette ends, pieces of polystyrene, crisps and leaves into a 40 litre capacity dirt collector. With a 60cm cleaning path, the TruSweep 460 can sweep up to 2600 m2 per hour.
An adjustable revolving side brush can be positioned for up-to-the-edge sweeping and sweeps debris from the sides into the path of the main brush. An easily visible adjustment scale makes it possible to set the main brush for the optimum pressure required for the debris being collected and to suit different floor conditions. Unique anti-wrap technology prevents long thin materials like string getting wound on to the brush shaft.
Easy to manoeuvre and lift, the main casing is of polypropylene. The TruSweep 460 has heavy- duty castors for ease of control, and a lightweight dirt collector that is easy and quick to empty. The handle can be positioned in two different
configurations to suit the height of the operator, and can be folded down for compact storage when the sweeper is not in use.

First to market was Miele’s 10kg washer-extractor and new 12-15kg SlimLine tumble dryer. The SlimLine tumble dryer fits through standard doorways and laundries of limited space whilst the complimentary powerful 10kg washer- extractor brings larger wash capacities to laundry rooms which are restricted to single phase electricity, meaning increasing wash loads without the expense of upgrading power supplies. Les Marshall, Miele Professional’s commercial director, believes that the successful uptake of the new products is mainly due to the
information provided at the launch. He said: “The dealer event we held in February has been instrumental in the successful start in the market of our new laundry product range. By taking the time to show our dealers, allowing them to touch and feel them through our effective breakout sessions and facilitating a Q&A session with key people at Miele, has been crucial.”
Next to join Miele’s product line up is the company’s first commercial heat-pump dryer. This new technology is capable of delivering up to 60% energy savings. A range of models are being launched, offering drum volumes of 130 litres, 250 litres and 325 litres. Not only do these dryers offer significant energy savings, there is no requirement for any vent ducting.

miele-professional.co.uk Dirty hands cost lives
A leading hand hygiene specialist has designed a new compliance system in a bid to stop food borne outbreaks which caused 4356 hospitalisations and 46 deaths in 2009. Gojo Industries-Europe is launching a range of colour coded dispensers created to simplify hand hygiene compliance and help reduce cross contamination. Colours and visuals are used to distinguish the Gojo TFX Touch Free and FMX Manual soap dispensers and Purell hand sanitiser dispensers, along with protocol posters for workers to use as a reference point.
Managing director of Gojo Industries-Europe, Mike Sullivan, said: “Hand hygiene is an important part of food processing, as opportunities for cross contamination are in abundance. If just one employee fails to follow correct hand hygiene procedure they are putting the facility’s reputation and people’s lives at risk..Our new programme has been launched with quick and clear messaging which will help educate workers in an industry where current labelling and language used may not be easy to translate or understand.”
