Furthermore, National Semiconductor Corp. intro- duced the SolarMagic™ arc detection reference design, comprised of analog front end integrated circuits (ICs) and multi-band dynamic filtering firm- ware, the first commercially available chipset to detect hazardous DC arc faults in photovoltaic (PV) systems. In PV systems today, intermittent connec- tions or insulation deterioration (faults) can cause DC circuits to generate arcs of considerable energy. The arc, reaching temperatures of over 3,000° C, poses safety risks to surrounding infrastructure and person- nel. National Semiconductor Corp. introduced the industry’s first 2A red, green and blue (RGB) LED driver for portable projectors that drives three com- mon anode RGB high-brightness LEDs sequentially with a single inductor. The highly-integrated LM3435 includes an I2C control interface for LED current control.

eoPhotonics Corporation (NYSE: NPTN) announced that its PIC-based small form factor

DQPSK demodulator is now ramped to volume production. The NeoPhotonics demodulator pro- duct is designed for use in 40Gbps direct detection

Differential Quaternary Phase Shift Key (DQPSK) data transmission. DQPSK systems utilize Delay-Line Interferometers (DLIs) to coherently mix the inco- ming signal with a delayed sample, thereby avoiding the need for, and cost of, an external local optical reference laser. http://www.neophotonics.com

line (ThinFab™) for manufacturing thin film silicon modules. The order came from a new customer in Asia that is already active in the renewable energy sector and has decided to enter the thin film silicon technology in a large capacity. “Our customer chose Oerlikon ThinFab™ technology due to low modu- le costs, competitive energy efficiency especially under real operational conditions, and because we offer a clean-tech, cadmium-free solution. This first 120-MW-ThinFab™ order underlines the potential of our solar business,” said Helmut Frankenberger, CEO Oerlikon Solar.

This new order is the first one for a complete 120 MW production line. The delivery of this Thin-
