like you! Don’t stick to a formal calligraphy and ivory linen paper just because all your fiends did so—invitations can be spiced up by using whimsical typography, bright colors, and interesting shapes (Yes, invitations can come in all sizes! Aren’t a 4’ by 6’ kind of couple? Blow up your invitation to poster size or shrink it down to note-card proportions!).

Wedding papers don’t end at the mailbox though— you can bring in elements of your Save the Date and invitations throughout the entire ceremony and reception. Couples can use welcome itineraries and area maps to welcome their out-of-town guests; baskets of elegant ceremony programs to line the aisles; escort cards, menu cards, place cards— your wedding can have the works! You can utilize elements of your wedding’s location as well as your invitation suite to inform the rest of your paper choices. Getting married at a vineyard? Create place cards and escort cards with your invitation’s colors and monogram by placing each card in a wine cork! Or have the vineyard’s most iconic image—the grape vine—grace your Save the Dates and border your invitations.
The most important thing to remember when creating and sending your wedding paper suite is who is meant to receive them. Sending a Save the Date to someone you leave off your guest list is oſten in poor taste—so be sure to finalize your guest list before sending anything off! Likewise, guests who receive invitations to a sit-down reception dinner to follow will likely expect escort cards telling them of their table assignments.
There are dozens of ways to spice up your wedding papers—but above all, be sure to create a suite that is decidedly you!
