HOT DESIGN TRENDS
Spring 2011 wedding trends are leaning toward the vintage romantic. Lace, candlelight and a mix of antique details lend themselves well to creating an enchanting, whimsical event. We are seeing the vintage trend permeate every aspect of the wedding fom the use of super 8s in black and white video to 1920’s inspired gowns. Keep your look fesh by incorporating clean, modern tablescapes with low, streamlined floral arrangements. Brides are choosing looser bouquets with an eclectic mix of blooms, berries, and textured twigs and leaves. The use of natural materials like aged driſtwood and bare branches continue to make statements in wedding signage and tall floral displays. We are seeing a lot of soſt, muted color palettes paired with organic touches of greenery and birch wood. Creating focal points in whites, creams, and grays neutralizes color palettes in blush, pistachio, peach or seafoam, allowing soſt washes of color to saturate your wedding in romantic elegance. We are also looking forward to seeing flirty punches of spring’s hottest color – honeysuckle – sure to add a modern twist to any vintage affair.
We suggest that you spend an aſternoon at the bookstore thumbing through wedding magazines and bring home the ones that inspire you. Perusing the images of recent weddings will give you an overall sense of what you desire the look and feel of your own wedding to be or not to be. Creating a file of your favorite ideas and images is a great place to start, and pulling pictures fom websites and blogs is as important as ripping out pages fom wedding and décor magazines. Keep in mind that you are not limited to purely wedding blogs or websites. You will find that interior design blogs oſten feature exciting tabletop or entertaining ideas to inspire your wedding décor.
Don’t forget to check out the websites and blogs of your favorite local photographers. They are a great resource for fesh ideas & current trends as they are exposed to all different types of weddings and events! Collecting the images you like (and some images that you don’t like) is important!
