NickWilson, director and co-owner of Hastings-based contract electronics manufacturerWilson Process Systems, is swapping the role of running this UK CEM businesses for an altogethermore personal challenge of Herculean proportions. This September, Nick and a teamof 19 friendswill cyclemore than 1,400miles fromPortsmouth to Pompeii for charity.
Themotivation is to raise funds for the
Association for Glycogen Storage Disease UK, a charity that offers support to sufferers of a life-threatening genetic disorder known as Pompe Disease. Hence the route from Pompey (aka Portsmouth) to Pompeii. The event is organised by a close friend of the Wilson familywhose young daughter suffers fromthe condition.
Already a keen time trial road cyclist, Nick admits that the
endurance demandsmay prove to be a tougher challenge: “I’m used to expending bursts of energy over short timed routes of a
NickWilson’s 20-day charitymarathon covers 1,438miles, including Alpine stages
fewmiles. But this 20-daymarathon covers 1,438miles in total. It includes steep Alpine stages and long slogs heading south through eastern France. I don’t expect to have the time or energy toworry about business back home.”
Nick is looking for sponsorship tomake
thewhole challengeworthwhile. Several ofWPS’ suppliers and customers have already pledged support. If you can help with a donation, Nick, the teamand AGSD UKwould be delighted. There are also opportunities for corporate sponsorship, fromthe riders’ shorts, to banners, to company logos on the support vans. Every penny goes to the charity.
