8. Brendan Jennings, managing partner, Deloitte


Brendan Jennings, FCA, will take over as managing partner at Deloitte on 1 June. Jennings joined Deloitte in 1981 and has been a partner for the past 18 years. As national audit leader of the Irish practice, he has worked closely with many of the firm’s largest clients and has served on the executive committee since 2002. During his time at Deloitte, he has served as leader of the con- sumer business practice. He takes over from Pat Cullen who will resume his role as a senior partner in the firm.

10. Fiacra Nagle,managing director, Compass Group Ireland


Compass Group UK & Ireland has appointed Fiacra Nagle as the new managing director of Compass Group Ireland. Before joining Compass, Nagle was commercial director of ODC Group, the owner of UK on- demand printing brands, Prontaprint and Kall Kwik. Until 2008 Nagle was CEO of O’Briens Sandwich Bars. Prior to this, he spent 15 years in international banking and proj- ect finance, latterly as head of telecom finance for KBC Bank. Nagle has been a board mem- ber of the Irish Franchise Association and an active member of Retail Excellence Ireland.

9. Zoe Kavanagh, chief executive, National Dairy Council


The National Dairy Council has announced the appointment of Zoe Kavanagh as chief execu- tive. Kavanagh worked with PepsiCo for over 16 years and was most recently general manager (Ireland-beverages) for almost four years. A BAgSc graduate from UCD (agricul- ture and food engineering) in 1994, her previous roles with PepsiCo included international


The Irish Exporters Association has appointed Philip Halpin as economic advisor. Halpin has extensive international and home market experience rang- ing from founding PH Business Consulting to chief general manager at the Bank of Kuwait & Middle East. He has held the post of chief operating officer at National Irish Bank, where he also held the posts of head of treasury and group econo- mist. He was a bond dealer and economist with Solomons Abrahamson (stockbrokers). He has also lectured at the Irish Management Institute, the University of Gezira (Sudan), and the Institute of Public Administration on macroeconomics.

12. Paul Lynam, chief executive, Siemens Ireland


The board of Siemens (Dublin) has announced the appointment of Paul Lynamas chief executive officer (CFO) for the organisa- tion in Ireland. Lynam, formerly the Irish operation's CFO, replaces Dr Werner Kruckow who has returned to Siemens Germany following the comple- tion of his five-year tenure in Ireland. Lynamwill be responsi- ble for the overall company strategy and market develop- ment for Siemens' operations in Ireland. He has been working with Siemens since 2005 in the capacity of commercial manag- er, energy and transportation, and as CFO since 2008. Having studied at DCU and UCD, he began his career in 1990 with Smurfit Group where he worked until joining Siemens 15 years later. In his new role, Lynamwill also be on the board of Siemens (Dublin).

Flannery pre- viously held the position of country controller (industry sector) at Siemens. Having completed a BA in accounting and finance, he qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Ireland before moving to Deloitte and subsequently KPMG in Eastern Europe. Flannery joined Siemens in 2001 as commercial manager, energy and transportation and took responsibility for HR from 2003 to 2008. In his new role, he will also be on the board of Siemens (Dublin).


14.Michael Harrington, executive director, CBRE


Michael Harrington has been appointed executive director of CBRE and head of retail at Pan Ireland. Based in Dublin, Harrington will lead the Irish retail practice, establish a spe- cialist Belfast retail division and work closely with Guy Hollis, managing director of Ireland, and Ciaran Bird, head of UK retail, to better align the Irish and UK retail practices. Harrington joins CBRE from HWBC. Harrington has also previously held positions with JLL, NCB Property and Palmer McCormack. He is a law grad- uate and qualified barrister from the Kings Inns and holds an MBA in strategic manage- ment and an MA in ethnomusi- cology from the Open University in the UK.
