Once upon a time there was a silky-voiced DJ

who had an outdated kitchen… before

kitchen. It was well laid out. It had plenty of storage and a great looking floor. But it was dated. And it lacked personality.

Monica’s decision to renovate was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and an amazing client/contractor relationship:

“I found VHC at [one of] the home shows,” Monica explains.

“When they came out to the house, they asked about what I wanted to do. They didn’t try to sell me. They listened. That really impressed me.”

Listening is not only a sign of respect; it is also the basis of

all good relationships and a critical ingredient of a successful renovation. Monica knew what she wanted and the look she was going for. She didn’t need (or want) someone to try to talk her into a major remodel when a renovation would do the trick. Ed Lane, the owner of VHC, understood that.

VHC’s task was to give Monica’s kitchen a fresh new look—

one that was more consistent with Monica’s taste and style. Since neither the layout nor the storage needed modification, VHC was able to reface rather than replace the existing cabinets, keeping the cost of the renovation way down. Similarly, the old tile countertops were replaced with granite and the backsplash was designed to accentuate the new granite and the existing inlaid flooring. All the appliances were replaced.

after “The kitchen renovation was a great experience,” says

Monica. “[VHC] did it right and they did it fast. From tear down to completion, it only took seven days… The workers cleaned up every day, so I never felt like I was living in a construction zone. [VHC] understood that their workplace was my home and I was living in it.”

Monica’s and VHC’s ‘once upon a time’ beginning has a

‘happily ever after’ ending. Since the completion of her kitchen, Monica has asked VHC to do a guest bath renovation and a master bath remodel.

“Ed’s is the only contractor’s business card I need,” Monica

exclaims. “I know he can and will take care of anything I need inside or outside, from simple maintenance to another remodel.”
