Hawver Aluminum Completes Large Seals for Local University Hawver Aluminum Foundry Inc.,
Tampa, Fla., has delivered two 11-ft. seals to the nearby Univ. of South Florida, breaking a company record for casting size. The two castings were produced using the largest and heaviest molds ever produced in Hawver’s 35-year history. “We produced four molds measur- ing 7 x 12 ft. and containing 8,000 lbs. of nobake sand,” company owner Jim Hawver said. With a poured weight of 800 lbs., the molds yielded aluminum cast- ings weighing more than 700 lbs. Te castings were powder coated and assembled in halves. Hawver Aluminum produces com-
mercial, military and aerospace cast- ings in aluminum, brass and bronze via the green sand and nobake processes. Its standard casting sizes are up to 400 lbs. and 8 ft. long.
The seals weigh more than 700 lbs. (317.5 kg) each, making them the largest part Hawver Aluminum, Tampa, Fla., has ever made.
