[ Project focus: Olympic Velodrome ]


As one of the landmark venues for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the stunning Velodrome was recently completed some 18 months ahead of the opening ceremony. Imtech G&H carried out the M&E installation work on this state-of- the-art arena, and Rob Shepherd gets on his bike to fi nd out more

s the transformation of a desolate wasteland into a world class venue for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games nears completion, the imagination that was once required to visualise


what the fi nished site would look like is no longer needed. When casting an eye over the Olympic Park the Velodrome, with its distinctive double-curved roof, presents itself as a spectacular venue that will deliver fi rst-class cycling facilities for London 2012 and beyond.


First amongst equals In February 2011, the 6,000 seat Velodrome became the fi rst venue at the Olympic Park to be fi nished. Building work began in March 2009, and the opening event marked the handover from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to the London 2012 organisers.
