and efficiently through enhanced productivity, re- duced costs and improved quality and compliance across the value chain.
Additionally, the Company released the 6.6 version of Symyx Notebook by Accelrys. Building on last year’s merger of Accelrys, Inc. and Symyx Tech- nologies, Inc., as well as the combined company’s recently announced corporate strategy and underpin- ning Enterprise R&D Architecture, the latest release of the multi-disciplinary electronic laboratory note- book (ELN) offers out-of-the box integration with the Accelrys Pipeline Pilot™ Enterprise R&D Platform. Seamless access to powerful Pipeline Pilot data ana- lytics and reporting from within the ELN accelerates experiment design, execution, analysis and reporting in a collaborative project team environment.
The 6.6 notebook release also offers new capabilities for rapidly and efficiently designing and documenting chemical and biological formulations. http://www.accelrys.com
UNCD® A running capability of its NovAseptic®
dvanced Diamond Technologies (ADT) announces that Merck-Millipore has selected Bearings™ to improve the reliability and dry- line of mixers.
NovAseptic mixers are widely used in the pharma- ceutical and biotech industries by customers who require aseptic mixing processes for the manufacture of pharmaceutical and food-grade chemicals.
Upon loss of lubrication, a mixer’s bearings com- monly fail within 30 seconds. When this occurs, they must be repaired, cleaned, and re-certified; a cumbersome and expensive process. UNCD Bearings extend the reliability of the magnetically-coupled mixing heads in NovAseptic mixers because UNCD, a thin-film form of nanocrystalline diamond, is bonded to the bearing surface. Because UNCD has the durability of diamond, the world’s hardest ma- terial, and a coefficient of friction similar to Teflon®
,
tests show that UNCD Bearings can extend the mean-time-to-failure upon loss of lubrication to over 5 hours – an improvement of 600 times. http://www.thindiamond.com
