KENSINGTON REVIEW The Kensington Shoe Event Autumn/Winter 2011
Held at The Westbury Mayfair, from March 20th to 22nd 2011 P
opular with footwear and fashion buyers, the three-day Kensington Shoe Event has become a premier show for medium-to-high quality footwear, but it still remains
deliciously compact and customer-friendly. With its fabulous ranges and comfortable hotel
setting, situated in the heart of prime central London, the Kensington Shoe Event rarely disappoints. This season the Event was again held at The Westbury Mayfair, Conduit Street, a prestigious West End venue that proved popular with exhibitors and visitors.
Held just after the major European shows, the
timing of the Event allows buyers, namely boutique and independents from all over the UK and Ireland, to have a clear mind on what to buy in a relaxed and informal environment. They also enjoy its luxurious surroundings and complimentary tea, coffee and pastries available throughout the show.
According to Renato de Angelis, exhibitor and
organiser. registered visitor numbers at the Kensington Shoe Event in March were approximately 15% less than the previous season’s registrations, which follows the trend of the major UK and European footwear shows this season, including Moda, GDS, Micam and Madrid. However, Renato added that “all the retailers/ buyers who visited the Event came to place orders, not just to look. As usual the products on show were a good mix with something for every taste and were well received by the buyers.”
Martin Ward, exhibitor and co-organiser,
commented: “The hotel made a real effort to make exhibitors and visiting retailers feel welcome!!
At last month’s Event there were 55 of the
industry’s top brands on display from an exciting cross section of Europe’s best factories and designers.
The Autumn/Winter season is especially
important for those factories which specialise in the production of boots. At The Kensington Show Event there were several top-notch boot manufacturers, including Kennel&Schmenger; Nero Giardini; Manas; Pons Quintana; Alberto Zago; Paco Herrero and Cara London. These factories offer a wide range of styling and prices...but always with a touch of fashion.
Also on display at the Event in March were some
of the most glamorous shoes on the planet!! Labels such as Magrit; Pura Lopez; Voltan; Bourne; Audley and Moda in Pelle all offer retailers a real opportunity to brighten their shops with beautiful saleable styles from some of the most dedicated followers of fashion worldwide.
Car Shoes/Moccasins are never far from the
fashion headlines; brands which exhibited at the Event included Paul Green; Gardenia; Manila and Pastoret. A super selection, where retailers were offered stylish comfort and everyday wearability to keep their customers happy.
Beautiful handbags to compliment many of
the dressy styles were being purchased from Olga Berg, now one of the top handbag brands in the UK.
“Flat & Funky" also had a place at The Event:
Arche offered French "comfort-chic";Victoria had a super plimsoll/lace-up look for girls with style; Pretty Ballerinas and Ska Ballerinas offered two of the best European collections in the market.
