USA Wrestling Weekly to air updated news, features
USA Wrestling Weekly, a new half-hour
news broadcast, has been produced on a weekly basis starting in January. It is presented in a news format, and provides updated information on USA Wrestling activities, as well as a variety of feature segments. Every Friday, the show is posted on
TheMat.com, which is USA Wrestling's website. The show is moderated by veteran wrestling broadcaster Scott Casber. “USA Wrestling is extremely excited
about this new product,” said USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender. ”We are confident it will provide an additional platform to promote athletes and tell the USA Wrestling story world- wide.” In addition to
TheMat.com, the show is
also being posted on USA Wrestling’s YouTube Channel. USA Wrestling Weekly is also posted
on a variety of websites, and will also be available to television networks across the nation.

me. Seriously, I have been so fortunate to have had the chance to work with so many great athletes. Guys like Jim Martinez, Mike Houck, Mike Foy, the Koslowskis, Paulson, Lowney, Gordy, John and Marty Morgan, Dave Zuniga and Jake Deitchler. Every time I run a Junior practice, I see potential Olympic and World medalists. Young kids have so much potential. It’s really exciting for me. I just have to be able to convince them that they have the abili- ty and that if they are willing to work hard and believe in themselves, it can all happen.
USA Wrestler: What do you believe are the most
important skills a wrestler must have in order to suc- ceed in Greco-Roman wrestling? Chandler: To succeed under the current rules,
you must be able to score a turn from the mat, either a gut wrench or a lift. You must be skilled in defensive technique in the down position. It is important to have good attacks from standing.
USA Wrestler: What must the United States do
to remain a World contender in Greco-Roman, since the style is so much different than the folkstyle taught in our schools? Chandler: We must get more of our best athletes
to specialize in Greco right out of high school. Fewer and fewer wrestlers are competing after col- lege. If a young wrestler loves Greco-Roman style, we need to get him doing the same thing that all the other top countries do which is to specialize in Greco and get lots of training and competition.

Included in many of these news reports
are video footage and audio clips. Regular features are also included in
the show. The Wrestling Greats segment tells the story of a past or present American wrestling star, featuring action footage. The Technique segment pro- vides quality instruction on wrestling moves and strategy designed to help cur- rent wrestlers to improve their perform- ance. The Photo of the Week segment fea-
tures exciting wrestling photos sent in by fans.
