Imagine outperforms expectations


Imagine Optic, a manufacturer of Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors, has reported higher-than- expected sales via its US subsidiaries Imagine Optic Inc and Axiom Optics. Both created in December 2009, the companies outperformed expectations with orders totalling more than $800K in their first year of operations.


‘Our US subsidiaries that were launched at the end of 2009 have made remarkable progress in the North American market,’ said Samuel Bucourt, Imagine Optic’s CEO. ‘Founding Imagine Optic Inc has enabled us to strengthen our ties with existing US customers and


develop new relationships on numerous high-profile projects. Axiom Optics, a division of Imagine Optic Inc, has shown tremendous potential by developing solutions that blend our products with those offered by other suppliers of high-quality components to satisfy its growing list of customers.’ Sister company Imagine Eyes, which specialises


in adaptive-optics ophthalmic instrumentation, also reported a record 2010. The company has also opened offices in the Pythagore optics-photonics cluster in Shanghai, China. The offices are in Yangpu District, near 12 of China’s leading universities.


Jenoptik sensor deal agreed


Jenoptik’s Optical Systems division has entered into a framework agreement with Magna Electronics Europe for the supply of optical sensors. The agreement in the low double-digit million euros range starts in mid-April 2011 with the technical systems for the new contract installed at Jenoptik’s Triptis, Germany facility. Series production of the sensor will start in the summer of this year.


Over and above the framework


agreement, Magna and Jenoptik are working together on preparations for further projects. With the agreement, Jenoptik is enlarging its volume production of systems and modules for sensor technology and imaging applications in the automotive industry. The sensor enables improved protection of pedestrians in the event of frontal collisions.


OsA partners with Messe Berlin for Laser Optics event


Edmund Optics has announced the global expansion of its 3rd Annual Higher Education Grant Program. The programme, now reaching out to include university optics programmes in the Americas, Europe and Asia, will be giving away more than $60,000 worth of product awards.

Edmund expands grant programme ‘Due to the success of this

The Optical Society of America (OSA) has announced a partnership with Messe Berlin in which the OSA Congress on Research in Optical Science will be co-located with the Laser Optics Berlin event in 2012. The OSA Congress, which will replace the Laser Optics Congress traditionally held at Laser Optics Berlin, will feature programming on the physics and applications of high field sources, the new and rapidly developing field of structure research in the ultrafast domain. The OSA Congress and Laser Optics Berlin will take place on 19 to 21 March 2012 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. ‘OSA is pleased to form this partnership with Messe Berlin and provide a more comprehensive programme for attendees,’ said OSA president Christopher Dainty.
