WaveSport SuperEZ

When you look at the broad spectrum of paddlers two user groups typically get overlooked by the Average Joe Medium world of whitewater kayaking—little peo- ple and big people. Big paddlers typically just suck it up, paddling boats too big for any fun or cramming themselves into plas- tic torture devices for ten-minute ses- sions. Until recently, if they could stand the pain, paddling a boat two sizes too small had its advantages. Now that most companies offer at least two sizes of every model and getting in the proper size is critical to performance, there has been no one better at catering to both ends of the spectrum than Wave Sport. Rounding out their river playing line of the Evo, EZ and Big EZ comes the SUPER EZ.

Outfitting The Super EZ incorporates the new Wave

Sport F.A.T. 2.0 (hey, who you call’n F.A.T.?) outfitting system. With its carpeted seat, hip pads and thigh braces this system is easily adjustable by adding foam shims or with the turn of the supplied screwdriver. Tip: snap the screwdriver into the bungie cord holding the front pillar for on river tweaking and pre-paddle bolt tightening leak prevention. The thigh braces are less aggressive than the ones found in the rest of the F.A.T. line-up leaving room for bigger legs; although even our largest paddlers considered swapping to the standard 2.0 thigh braces for more wrap around leg sup- port. The adjustable bulkhead is clever and if

1. The Super EZ dwarfs even the Ace 5.1. Notice the width and volume in the ends and the super friendly high parting lines. The Super EZ and Ace’s share the same widened planing surface and narrower release chines.

2. Pull the webbing strap and the adjustable bulkhead snugs up tightly for aggressive paddling or release the cam device to relax. You’ll have no trouble wearing river shoes in this baby.

.

3. The cockpit is 4.5” longer and almost 2” wider than the standard Wave Sport cockpit. For a guy like Jon there is room for a picnic, for big paddlers it accommodates height and girth and facilitates easy entry and exit.
