Big Advantage

The third prong of the strategic plan – and probably the most attractive from a customer’s point of view – involves Brice-Baker’s business offering. The Group doesn’t just design and manufacture silos. It provides all the associated products and services too, delivering every piece of the jigsaw and not just one.

Imagine how much easier it would be logistically – not to mention more cost-effective – if you could entrust a single supplier (or ‘partner’ as Brice-Baker prefers to see itself) with the design and manufacture of the silos, all the drying and materials handling equipment (right down to catwalk, ladder and gantry systems), the installation itself, and an expert, responsive after sales service.

“Customers like the fact that they can tell us what they want and just leave us to get on with it. It saves them time, money and the hassle of co-ordinating a number of different suppliers,” explains Alan Eccles, Sales Manager. “Camgrain is a typical example.”

The UK’ s largest farmer-owned silo plant,

Camgrain recently chose Brice-Baker to supply four 12 metre diameter wet grain hopper silos with aeration, to add to the twelve 5,000 tonne storage silos that Brice-Baker had previously installed on the site.

Brice-Baker also manufactured and supplied the 40-metre conveyor bridge over the driers to feed the new silos, along with all the conveyors, screw conveyors and elevators totalling around 1.6 km of either 300 tph or 600 tph conveying equipment! These were manufactured under a joint venture agreement between Brice-Baker and Franz Ruberg in Germany.

So what’s next on the horizon?

“Later this month, we’ll be unveiling our new state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facility in Bristol,” says Steve. “This will deliver faster response times and improved customer service for existing and new clients alike.”

You’re also going to be hearing lots more about Brice-Baker in the news. “The recent acquisition of the assets of Law-Denis Engineering is just the start,” reveals Frazer. “Brice-Baker is going to go on growing organically and through acquisition for years to come.” Because in this business, big is most definitely best.
