project management and other skills. As a real advantage, this training program truly has ROI built-in as outcomes directly relate to cost savings, production / services improvements, and/or bottom line results.


While more and more companies are taking advantage of the aforementioned program; others are using the program to build core workplace skills in topics such as: • Leadership Essentials • Communicating Effectively • Dealing with Conflict • Motivating Others • Performance Improvement • Creating and Building Teamwork


Many other topics are available; however, it is important to note that the state does not subsidize compliance-related training (harassment, laws, safety, interviewing, etc) and does not subsidize training that was already planned and budgeted. State-funded training must supplement (cannot replace) any existing or planned training efforts.


State performance-based requirements remain relatively unchanged for 2011 with each eligible trainee having to complete three requirements. Completing these requirements enables the state to pay for each individuals training. • Training: Must complete at least 8 hours (for small employers) and 24 hours (for larger employers). A maximum of 80 hours is permitted. Each eligible training hour attended is then reimbursed.


• Employment: Must work at least 35 or more hours per week during the training and 90-days after training ends.


• Wage: Must earn $15.37 or more per hour for Los Angeles, Orange County, and Bay Area Counties, $15.16 for Sacramento, $14.81 for San Diego, $14.24 for Solano, $14.15 for Ventura and $14.09 for all other counties. Employer-paid health, dental and vision benefits on an hourly basis can be used to increase trainees wages to meet or exceed the wage requirement.

schedule time to discuss your training objectives with you. Employers Group can then deploy an online training needs assessment that will further assist us in recommending appropriate training topics.


• Propose Solution: We will provide a proposal that will include topics, number of trainees, training ob- jectives, an approximate state subsidy along with any employer costs that may be necessary.


• Plan and Deliver Training: After we have created and agreed on the scope of the project, Employers Group will confirm the training dates and times.


• Reconcile Program: Upon completing the training, we will reconcile the original training plan against actual eligible training hours completed. We will submit all eligible hours for state payment. Any incomplete hours are invoiced to the participating employer.
