Assistance because it provides housing for those clients. All these services are far reaching and can still be affected without directly being the one cut. Cutting a dollar to a nonprofit is more than just taking one dollar from them. Tese services are far reaching. Te state, federal and private sources might match, double or even triple the county or city government funding, and when we cut a dollar, we cut any of that matched funding.
GD Te governor and Legislature are mandated to have a balanced budget, so either programs are going to have to be cut or taxes are going to have to be increased. All I keep hearing across the news from everybody is, “don’t increase my taxes.” KWIt is “don’t increase my taxes,” but we are increasing taxes. When you cut the state budget, it falls on
the local taxpayer. We don’t have a state income tax. So when we cut the state taxes it is falling on the county taxes, and property taxes rise. It has a direct result on the property owner or the renter who ends up paying the property taxes for the property owner.
GD Sooner or later the buck stops somewhere. KWTe buck stops somewhere, and more and more I see the federal and state government placing the burden on the local community. Tere are policies in place that the federal government and the entire collective bodies of taxpayers are expected to bear the cost, but the burden is being shifted to the local community. Tere is the FEMA issue, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife issue, and the Navy issue. I see it more and more. and it is just too great for these
