Wheeling in friends and a $3,000 winning bid Te Studios of Key West bike auction brought out the locals hoping to acquire one-of-a-kind bicycles painted by local artists from $600 to $2,500. But the highest total went to a bike sponsored by TSKW artist/writer-in-residence Jennifer O’Lear. On September 18, 2010, O’Lear suffered a brain aneurism and lay in a coma for months. She is now emerging from the healing process and beginning her journey through rehabilitation. Because she could not complete the bicycle project, it was painted by a group of close friends. In mid-October at the home of Key West painter Eric Anfinson, the bike’s frame was filled with words of hope from her friends and stanzas of O’Lear’s poetry. Friend Erika Biddle rode the bike in Jennifer’s honor during the Fantasy Fest Parade 2010. Te week after the bike auction, friends gathered at the
studios for a picture with the bicycle which will be donated to Jennifer O’Lear along with the entire winning bid of $3,000. e 20 KONK Life
