1. Robert Dix, chairman, Grafton Employment Group


Robert Dix has been appointed chairman of Grafton Employment Group. A char- tered accountant, he was a partner in KPMG Ireland until his retirement in 2008. He then joined Barry O’Callaghan's family office where he was responsible for setting up a major philanthropic foundation as well as a supporting CSR functions with O’Callaghan’s US publishing company, EMPG. In 2010, Dix joined Zamin Ferrous as finance director. He also sits on the boards of a number of public and private companies. He has a bachelor of business and science degree from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.


2. Geoffrey O’Byrne-White, director, Irish Aviation Authority


Geoffrey O’Byrne-White has been appointed to the board of the Irish Aviation Authority. The former CityJet chief executive has been given the post for a four-year term. O’Byrne-White has more than 30 years’ experi- ence in the aviation industry. A


pilot, he started his career with the Irish Air Corps. He was subsequently head of opera- tions for the Government Air Transport Service and a direc- tor at PARC Aviation. Since leaving CityJet last year, he has been involved in training pilots.

3. Imelda Reynolds, president, Dublin Chamber of Commerce


Imelda Reynolds has been appointed president of Dublin Chamber of Commerce for 2011. Reynolds is partner at Beauchamps Solicitors, where she served as managing part- ner from 2001 to 2008. She holds several qualifications from University College Dublin, including a bachelor of civil law and a diploma in European law. Most recently, she has been awarded a diploma in corporate governance from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. She was admitted as a


Gerard P Kilcommins has been appointed president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland. Kilcommins is vice-president of global operations forMedtronic’s vascular businesses, and gen- eralmanager of the Galway site. He has over 20 years’ experi- ence in the healthcare industry. He graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway with a degree in manufacturing technology, and in 2003 he was awarded a master’s in manage- ment science fromTCD.


5. Andrew Street, chief executive officer, Superquinn


Superquinn has named Andrew Street as its new chief executive officer. Street has worked in the retail sector for more than 25 years, most recently as Dunnes Stores’ chief operating officer. He worked at Dunnes for 12 years. Prior to this, he worked in Boots for 12 years.


6. Simon Burke, non-executive chairman, Mitchells & Butlers


Mitchells & Butlers has appointed Simon Burke as chairman. Burke joined the board in January 2010 as non- executive deputy chairman. He is also chairman of HobbyCraft and a non-executive director of the BBC executive board. He was executive chairman of Superquinn until November 2010 when he became non- executive chairman of the board.


7. James Hickey, chief executive, the Irish Film Board


James Hickey has been appointed chief executive of the Irish Film Board (IFB), effective from 1 June 2011. Hickey moves to the IFB from Matheson Ormsby Prentice (MOP), were he has been a partner for 19 years. He was educated at Gonzaga College Dublin and TCD and graduated with an MA (Dub) LLB, qualify- ing as a solicitor in 1977. Prior to taking up practice full time as a solicitor he worked in the Project Arts Centre as theatre director and also as box office manager for the Dublin Theatre Festival in 1979. He has been chairman of the Project Arts Centre chairman of the Abbey Theatre, and a boardmember of Screen Producers Ireland. He became chairman of MOP part- nership in 2004 and served two two-year terms in that position.
