Accenture announces Analytics Innovation Centre for Ireland

Accenture in Ireland recently announced its plans to open a research, development and innovation centre in Dublin to develop predic- tive analytics solutions for clients worldwide. The Accenture Analytics Innovation Centre is

expected to create 100 new highly-skilled jobs over the next four years, adding to Accenture’s 1,300 people in Ireland today. The centre is backed by IDA Ireland and will form part of a wider Accenture global network of innovation centres dedicated to the demonstration, research & development (R&D) and delivery of predictive analytics. The announcement of the centre was made at

an Irish Times Innovation Briefing addressed by Brian McCarthy, executive director of Strategy, Accenture Analytics, which focused on “Using Analytics to Create Your Own Upturn” and, in particular, the challenges faced by businesses today, including: • How have customer buying preferences changed and what are the go-to-market impli- cations?

• How do we become more agile to sense and exploit opportunities around our customers, competitors andmarkets?

• How to leverage predictive analytics to opti- mise resource allocation within prescribed time windows?

• How do we balance investment decisions to optimise performance in both the near term and longer term? Speaking at the briefing about the centre’s

launch,MarkRyan, countrymanaging director of Accenture in Ireland, said: “The centre is the first Accenture innovation centre of its kind to be located in Ireland. It will employ a mixture of technology experts and management scientists. Many of the 100 newroles createdwill be focused specifically on R&D.We are currently recruiting both graduates and experienced hires with ana- lytical and statistics experience, ranging from PhDlevel to graduate level.” The Dublin centre will focus on the innova-

tive development of sophisticated techniques in compliance-related analytics to addressmany of the key business challenges facing Accenture’s clients today.Over time the centrewill expand its capabilities to demonstrate, develop and deliver

wider cross-functional and cross-industry pre- dictive analytics services.The centrewill also be a global showcase for Accenture analytical capabil- ities to clients who will visit from around the world.The technologies developed in Irelandwill bemarketed globally to Accenture clients. EachAccenture Innovation Centre, focused on

business analytics, is designed and equipped to address issues that companies may be facing as they seek to glean deeper insights from data and to improve decision-making processes. Other centres in the analytics network are located in Bangalore, Chicago, Milan, Mumbai, New Delhi and San José, California, with others across the world planned. Welcoming the announcement, IDA Ireland

also welcomed by Kevin Magee, CEO of the Analytics Institute – a non-profit organisation that collaborates with industry and public sec- tor organisations, professionals and academics to improve and advance the benefits of analytics and to position Ireland as a global leader in ana- lytics R&D. “At the Analytics Institute, our focus is to
