improvement in ASQ satisfaction results in their region
It is also worth noting that the Cairo fi nished runner-up in Africa and
Nairobi was voted the continent’s fi fth best airport. New regional awards for airports handling less than 2mppa went to
Humberside (Europe); Quebec (North America); Barbados (Latin America & Caribbean); and George (Africa). Finally, Best Improvement by Region awards go to Bournemouth
(Europe); Cape Town (South Africa); Vancouver (North America); San José (Latin America & Caribbean); Shanghai Hongqiao (Asia-Pacifi c); and Dubai (Middle East). These last awards in particular go a long way to showing that good
service is not just all about the world’s biggest airports. And, perhaps more importantly than that, it demonstrates that
passengers do recognise and appreciate it went airports make an effort to improve service levels – whether that be at a major hub like Dubai handling close to 50mppa or tiny Bournemouth in the UK which handles less than 800,000 passengers yearly. Incheon CEO, CW Lee, believes that his gateway’s state-of-the art
facilities, super quick processing times, cleanliness and unique cultural offering are some of the key reasons why his gateway stands out from the rest. “We are often told that passengers rate Incheon as one of the most
beautiful and cleanest airports in the world,” says Lee. “We also boast arguably the fastest immigration processing times in the world, which have been made possible by our pioneering IT systems. “Many airport users are amazed that it takes just 18 minutes to
clear departures and 13 minutes at arrivals – that is less than a third of the standard recommended times by ICAO. “In addition, a number of unique attractions such as the Korean
Cultural Museum, traditional craft galleries and year-round cultural and artistic performances make the Incheon experience very different to anywhere else.”
