Lufthansa Cargo andDHL Express, is certainly expanding. Its latest development sees it nowoffering weekday flights toDHL’smainNorth American hub in Cincinnati fromFrankfurt, adding to aweekend service fromLeipzig to the US gateway. AeroLogic also nowserves Dubai in its Europe to Asia flight network and recently added twice-weekly Los Angeles flights via Chicago fromFrankfurt, returning non-stop to the German airport. With the eighth and last of its B777
freighters delivered at the end of last year, the current phase of AeroLogic’s fleet expansion programme has reached completion. Any further fleet growthwill have to be discussed by the two shareholders, Lufthansa andDHL,

VALUABLE LOAD Operating fromFrankfurt-Hahn airport, another Germany- based freighter operator – ACG Air Cargo Germany – began flying a 110-tonne payload B747-400 freighter twiceweekly between Hahn and Johannesburg in late November. Both of theweekly return flights fromJohannesburg’s
ORTambo International airport call atNairobi. ACG chief executiveMichael Bock believes that high payloads are guaranteed bothways on the service, thanks to a number of block-space agreements that have been signedwith leading freight forwarding agents. It is not all general cargo that is being shipped on this
newscheduled service. There are some pretty individual loads being carried aswell. ACG Air Cargo Germany moved a particularly special automotive shipment late last year, for example – a Rolls Royce Ghostmotor car – on behalf of global forwarder Ceva Logistics on the new Frankfurt-Hahn to Johannesburg routeing that its B747Fs nowfly.
