Standards for Extension Ladders and Step Ladders We have classified our products into three groups to help you select the right products to meet your requirements
INDUSTRIAL Frequent and Very Heavy Use
BS 2037 Class 1: Duty rating 130kg (20st 7lb)
These products are suitable for working in the most demanding conditions and when you require a high specification to deal with frequent use, heavy weights or extreme environments.
TRADE Light to Heavy Duty Use
EN 131: Duty rating 110kg (17st 5lb), maximum static load 150kg (23st 9lb)
These products are suitable for general purpose trade use, and are designed to cope with everyday wear and tear.
● Standard for Access Towers: EN 1004 ●
DOMESTIC
Occasional DIY and Light Use BS 2307 Class 3:
Duty rating 95kg (14st 13lb)
These products are only suitable for domestic DIY purposes and should not be used by the trade or people in the workplace.
Standard for Loft Ladders: EN 14975 Safe Working Height
For ladders and step ladders this is typically 1.5m above the last safe standing level. For Access towers and Work platforms, this is 2 metres above the platform.
